chemical sunset







1. Pour sodium thiosulphate solution to fill the round bottom portion of the round bottom flask.
2. Light a candle in front of the flask.
3. Place a white sheet acting as a screen behind the flask (opposite to the candle) .
4. Observe what happens in the screen.
5. Through the solution, light is observed on the white screen due to refraction image is formed.
6. Add 30cc glacial acetic acid to the solution in the flask and wait for few minutes to see any change in the white sheet.
7. Try to filter the content through filter paper and cellophane paper.
8. The solution becomes turbid due to the formation of colloidal sulphur  and the image disappears.
9. The content will not  be separated by filter paper but will be separated by cellophane paper....
